Public Speaking Organizations

Public speaking organizations that help you improve your public speaking confidence and skills are a great investment - if you want to overcome your nerves.

I should know because that's exactly how I gained my confidence in making speeches.

Back in the 1980's I dreaded having to give a speech. Like most people, I just hoped I'd never have to do it. I remember once someone asked me to be their best man. I did make a best man speech but I certainly didn't enjoy doing it. In fact it was a huge worry to me.

Then one day my boss suggested I attend a Dale Carnegie introductory class. I went along and signed up for a 12 week evening class. That was a great decision I can tell you. By the end of the 12 weeks I had gained a huge amount of confidence.

I remember quite a few things about the class - but one crucial point stands out. Everyone was in the same boat. Everyone there (except the trainers!) was scared of speaking out, so we all gave each other great support. And we did make speeches. Every week we each had to make a 2 minute presentation. That's the place to learn - where your whole audience is helping you every step of the way.

So I thoroughly recommend you join a speaking club or course of some sort. Just imagine no longer fearing having to give a speech!

Here are some organizations to have a look at to get you started. Each link will take you to another page on this web site that tells you a bit more about each organization.
